With the aid of our donors and the dedication of Budu Children’s staff, refugee children and other children in singular condition will obtain proper education, live descent lives and positively affect our global community.

2005 - 2006

Statement of Accounts

 

20 Laptops were donated by an organization which does not want to be named

50 computers, three LCD projectors, and accessories were donated by The World Resource Institute, Washington D.C.

Computers will be used for a computer lab and few donated to much needed schools in Liberia.

We are in the process of soliciting funding for shipment to Liberia.

 

 

  

 

1)    Provide scholarship and seek sponsorship for Liberian children at the Buduburam Refugee Camp, Ghana and Liberia.

a)  Identify and register refugee children of school going age who lack the means of getting into school.

b)  Seek for possible sponsorship for the number of children registered.

c)  Organize and implement fund-raising activities for the support of the educational program.

d)   Identify schools and enroll already identified needy children.

e)   To provide much needy supplies for children

f)    To provide Medicare for refugee children.

2)    Provide computer training for children in schools on the Refugee Camp/Liberia.

a.   Build a computer center for children or identify schools that have the potential to accommodate computer training.

b.   Seek funding from donor and /a donor agency to furnish, equip and recruit staff for computer center or only furnish and equip identified schools.

3)    To establish and run a Kindergarten, Elementary and Junior High school, including computer lab

a.   To acquire a plot of land ideally located to accommodate easy accessibility.

b.   To design and construct an eight classroom school building with the following facilities as phase one (in Liberia):

  • Academic block (classrooms)

  • Library

  • Computer Lab (2)

  • Administrative building

  • Cafeteria

  • Toilet facilities

  • Playground

c.   To adequately furnish the classroom, library, computer lab, etc.

d.   To recruit qualified local staff to oversee the dato-day running of the school.

e.   To obtain the approved Ministry of Education curriculum and syllabi and to purchase instructional materials.

iii. Supplies (pencils, pens, notebooks, etc.)

iv. Computers and computer accessories

f.    To cater to the extended needs of students

i.   Counseling

ii.  Uniforms and footwear

iii. Medical care

4)    To establish a Refugee Children Counseling Center

a.   Acquire a temporary structure to be used as counseling center for children and their parents at the refugee camp (rent).

b.   To facilitate training for local staff (Guidance and Counseling)

c.   Hold periodic counseling sessions for children and parents

5)    Solicit international volunteer counselors for schools on the refugee camp, mainly elementary and junior high schools.

6)    To establish pen pal network and initiate communication

a.   To seek out schools whose students are interested in pen pal from Africa

b.   To obtain addresses from these students in elementary and junior high schools and match them with project kids.

7). Organize detraumatizing activities for refugee children

a.     Cultural dance and drama group

b.     Movie Counseling

c.     Visual Art training.
